Powder Transfer System – Technical P&ID Explanation

1. Material Feeding Section

Equipment:

  • Bag Emptying Station (BES) / Feed Hopper (FH-101)

  • Level Switch (LS-101)

  • Dust Extraction Filter (DF-101)

Function:
Raw material is charged into the feed hopper.
LS-101 provides high/low level signals to the PLC.
Dust generated during charging is extracted through DF-101.

2. Conveying Generation Unit

Equipment:

  • Vacuum Pump / Roots Blower (VP-101 / RB-101)

  • Non-return Valve (NRV-101)

  • Pressure Switch (PS-101)

  • Safety Relief Valve (SRV-101)

Function:
The vacuum pump/blower generates the conveying pressure or vacuum.
PS-101 monitors operating pressure.
NRV-101 prevents backflow.
SRV-101 protects the system from overpressure.

3. Conveying Pipeline Network

Equipment:

  • SS Conveying Pipeline (PL-101)

  • Bends, Elbows, Flexible Connectors

  • Isolation Valves (BV-101, BV-102)

Function:
Material-air mixture is transported through the closed pipeline.
Isolation valves allow maintenance and sectioning of the system.

4. Receiving & Separation Section

Equipment:

  • Receiving Hopper (RH-101)

  • Cartridge Filter Assembly (CF-101)

  • Differential Pressure Transmitter (DPT-101)

  • Solenoid Pulse Valves (SV-101)

Function:
Powder is separated from conveying air.
CF-101 filters fine dust.
DPT-101 monitors filter condition.
SV-101 performs automatic pulse-jet cleaning.

5. Product Discharge System

Equipment:

  • Rotary Airlock Valve (RV-101) / Double Flap Valve (DFV-101)

  • Weighing System (WS-101) – Optional

  • Level Switch at Receiver (LS-102)

Function:
Separated powder is discharged into downstream equipment.
LS-102 ensures proper filling and prevents overfilling.

6. Control & Instrumentation

Equipment:

  • PLC Control Panel (CP-101)

  • VFD for Pump/Blower

  • Interlock System

  • Emergency Stop (ES-101)

Function:
PLC controls conveying sequence, safety interlocks, filter cleaning, and alarms.
VFD regulates conveying speed and energy consumption.
Emergency systems ensure plant safety.

7. Utilities & Safety Systems

Utilities:

  • Compressed Air for Pulse Cleaning

  • Electrical Power Supply

Safety:

  • Earthing & Bonding

  • Explosion Vent / ATEX Protection (where required)

  • Pressure Relief Systems

Overall System Operation Summary

The P&ID represents a fully enclosed automated material handling system where powder is transferred from feed point to process equipment under controlled pressure or vacuum with complete dust containment, safety interlocks, and continuous monitoring of critical parameters.
